Koung Sei Thu was born in 1964 in Dawei and graduated from the State School of Fine Art in Yangon in 1988.  He studied under U Thit Lwin Soe, U Ba Lone Lay and U Say Yoe, among others.  Buddhism is widespread and has deep roots in Burma, and there are probably hundreds of millions of Buddha images and faces all over the country.  Koung Sei Thu explores the many faces of Lord Buddha, from the mystic to the profound.  He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Burma and also in Singapore (1994), Malaysia (1995) and Japan (1998).
