Project II |
Below are a selection of photos from the Communication Authority of Thailand (CAT) Building Project. They include “formal portraits “ of the whole building to give the context for the sections and details in which he particularly delights . Collins makes emphatic use of “borrowed landscape” like in Chinese formal gardens, in that he uses the weather, light and neighbouring features to enhance or frame the subject to provide expressive and dramatic contrast. Martin Collins has been commissioned by some major Thai and International companies to create large-scale artistic photo-print series of and for installation in their buildings. “ I thought that by taking nice solid buildings as a subject they would still be there, and the same, whenever I wanted them, but they are never the same twice, in light, colour or mood, and cloud formation and the light changes really fast, so they wobble like fast moving jelly, and I miss a lot of shots by not being fast enough even with a finger on the button and ready. So my photos are action shots really…. ”
