Myat Kyawt was born in 1966 in Mandalay and attended the State School of Fine Art in Mandalay and studied under the art masters U Nyo Pyar, U Tin Moe and U Khin Maung Sann.  Myat Kyawt's preferred medium is acrylic in bright colours painted on canvas.  He often paints scenes of daily life in Burma in a rather surrealistic way with people, trees and temples transformed and morphed out of their natural shapes.  In addition to regular exhibitions in Burma, he has also exhibited in Singapore (2001, 2002, 2006), Japan (2002), and Thailand (2005, 2006).  His work is found in the permanent collection of the New Zealand Art Museum.
