Can authenticity of the paintings be guaranteed?
Yes, since the art works are acquired directly from the artists. A certificate of authenticity is provided for each purchase. All art works sold by Thavibu Gallery are original and signed pieces

How do I place an order?
Go to the order form then print it out, fill it in and send it to Thavibu Gallery by fax.

What payment options do I have?
Payment is normally done either by credit card or by bank transfer to the account of Thavibu Gallery.  Other options can be discussed.

Are the payment options safe?
Yes, since we do not accept online payments which can be subjected to fraud.  Bank to bank transfer is safe, and so is credit card payment.  Credit card details are sent immediately to the bank for processing, and credit card data are then destroyed, not stored in the gallery.

What determines the shipping costs?
Shipping costs are set by DHL, the company we use for sending art works door-to-door. We have negotiated special, low rates with DHL.  The DHL costs depend on volume/weight of the package, and insurance costs will be added.

How long will it take before I receive the art work?
Packing of the art work may take 1-2 days and shipping time depends on the destination.  Nearby countries will receive shipment in 1-2 days while it normally takes 4-7 days to USA and Europe.

Are there additional costs or taxes to be paid?
There are no additional costs or taxes to send paintings. Import of art works are subjected to the legislation of the destination country, and import taxes may be imposed in some countries. Taxes are levied based on declared value.

Can I return an art work?
We pack our shipments with the utmost care and ship them through DHL. Thus, we have never had any art works damaged during transportation. However, in the unlikely event that an artwork arrives damaged, we take full responsibility and refund the payment promptly or find another solution jointly with the buyer, such as a replacement painting.  If you have any doubts as to whether you will like the real art work you intend to purchase, kindly let us know your doubts by email, and we will arrange for a possible return of the art work if it turns out to be not what you expected.

What information is collected about clients?
Any information collected from you during your purchase, i.e. your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card data, to allow us to complete your order, is protected.  We do not rent, trade, or sell your personal information to anyone.  Credit card data are destroyed once they have been submitted to the bank
for processing.

How are the art works in Thavibu Gallery selected?
We have more than nine years experience in dealing with contemporary art from Thailand, Vietnam and Burma and have thus been able to establish contact with some of the top artists in the region.  Based on experience, we have then chosen some of the best artworks from the top artists, thus a careful selection of quality works have been made.

How do I find art works that I like?
Please browse the website and look at the art categories page to get some ideas. The most important criteria is that you buy something you like and can live with for a long time.

How do I care for my paintings?
Please look at the page conservation - care for your paintings.

Why have prices for paintings increased lately?
Prices for paintings are basically set by the artists. It is common that prices increase when an artist becomes more well known and respected, which is happening for many of the artists.  Also, there is an increased interest in contemporary art from Asia, though prices for Southeast Asian art are still realistic and not (yet) inflated
as is certainly the case of some artists from China, for example.

Will the value of the paintings increase over time?
It is difficult to predict whether the value of paintings will increase over time.  However, we believe firmly that a quality painting has lasting value, and that works by the top artists we represent (see above) have potential to increase in value over time.

I want to invest in contemporary art, what do I do?
Set your objectives and discuss them with reputable art galleries.  Buying for investment requires a deep understanding of the art as well as of the art market. Focus on artists that has been vetted, i.e. who have works represented in museum collections (see above).  Curators understand the art well, but often do not know the market sufficiently.
