Jason Tamthai was born in 1976 in Bangkok and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from USA in 1998. He proceeded to attain a Certificate in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art.  Upon returning to Thailand, he has settled in Chiang Mai where he both paints and produces woodcuts.  His woodcut series currently focuses on the inhabitants in the northern parts of Thailand, including minority groups and their plights.  His latest series of oil paintings are inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi on truth and non-violence with some of Gandhi's immortal words.  .Jason Tamthai staged a solo show in the USA in 2001 and has since participated in several art exhibitions in Thailand.
